Summary/Abstract: Thirty years after the Revolution of December 1989, the interest displayed byyouth regarding the events that brought the communist regime in Romania to an endhas started waning. This decrease in the level of awareness could have its roots inthe profound changes induced into our lives by globalization, as well as the integration in the EU and the rampant technological advancement of our age. Traditionally, a great role in providing education to the young generations in regardto our national history was undertaken by parents and grandparents. However, in thepast years the family has not been playing that active of a part in such processes.Given the context, teaching students about the communist regime and its fall becomesmore effective as a collaborative endeavour between educational institutions, massmedia,family, and other agents. Such a goal was achieved by the British Council inBucharest with the conference organized on the theme of the communist regime andthe revolution form December 1989, on December 18th 2019. During the conference,students were encouraged to conduct independent research about the communistperiod and engage in discussions based on their findings. A group of students fromLiceul Teoretic Ionita Asan from Caracal presented their conclusions on the level ofawareness among youth in regard to our recent history, as well
