Summary/Abstract: Gift giving in the birth rite in the past as well as today plays an important role, is one of his most important habits. The article presents situations in which the gifts were given, who was the recipient and what were and are the present forms of the gifts, as well as what they mean. The basis of the analysis are ethnographic materials from the Lublin region found and developed, obtained by the author, as well as from the archives of Lublin museums and the Archives of the Polish Ethnographic Atlas of Cieszyn.
