Changes in the landscape and the problem of development of areas after extraction of rock resources illustrated with the example of the vicinity of Tarnowa (Central Poland)

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to determine changes in the development and relief of the post-extractive area that result from transformations related to aggregate mining. The area around the gravel quarry in Tarnowa was selected as the test area. On the basis of cartographic summaries and analyzes, changes in the topography were shown. Thanks to the field study using a drone, the development of the area after and during the exploitation of natural aggregate was presented. The direction of forest remediation in which the changes are heading is indicated. The concept of special reclamation was introduced, which will allow the development and use of post-mining areas in an alternative way.
