Summary/Abstract: In the chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Khan Shaykhun in north-western Syria, on 4th of April 2017, more than 80 people were killed and hundreds suffered symptoms consistent to a nerve agent (sarin). Many governments, such us United States and its allies have attributed the attack with chemical weapons to the Syrian Government. In the same time, the Syrian Government and the Russian Federation sustained the hypothesis of an attack on the ammunition depot that took place under a „false flag”. In every circumstances of producing the chemical weapons attack, Syria does not fully comply with the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention, violating international legislation related to WMD nonproliferation.
