Summary/Abstract: One of the most important periods in Năsăud’s history is that of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This period was characterized by an unprecedented cultural development for the little Transylvanian city. This is mainly due to the establishment of the Border Gymnasium in 1863. This attracted many young people to this city who wanted to learn, taking advantage of the privileges of a bordering city, the most important fact being that the most worthy of them could further attend the courses of a prestigious university of the empire. Not only the young people who wanted to study came to Năsăud but also young professors eager to build a career. Among them are Iacob Mureşianu and Augustin Bena, two young music teachers who, through their teaching and love for music and art, animated the cultural life of Năsăud.
