Summary/Abstract: The spread of the pandemic generated by the emergence of the new COVID-19 coronavirus quickly became a reality that we cannot ignore and that has caused a series of rapid changes in our personal and professional life, while being a challenge from a managerial point of view. Emergency public procurement has been one of the measures taken by all governments affected by the pandemic to support health systems and limit the spread of the virus. The article analyzes the literature on public procurement in emergency situations and the main features of emergency public procurement management functions. It also describes how public procurement procedures have been simplified in Romania during the state of emergency, the benefits achieved and the problems encountered in conducting procurement procedures to combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
