Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the relationship between deliberative democracy and the institution of direct democracy, which is a referendum. The article presents a rhetorical analysis of the Senate debate (July 2018) on the request of President Andrzej Duda for a consultative referendum on the amendment of the Constitution. Based on the arguments used by the senators, the author presented the conditions of a more deliberative referendum.
