Albanian migration into Slovakia - history, specifics and relations

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to expose less-known facts about migration of ethnic Albanians to the area of Slovak republic. In the first part we indicate basic information about home countries and migration tendencies of Albanian people. In the next part we try to find the roots of Albanian migration to Slovakia and present the main periods of Albanian immigration in the period 1968-70 and after the year 1988. In the final part of the study we focus on the motivation of the immigrants, which was mainly commercial interest, and on the functions of family and relatives in the process of migration.
