Summary/Abstract: Traditional records (colophons) including the information about the copyist, a person ordering a manuscript, and also about the date and the place of its completing are met in the earliest Old Russian codices. With time, initial and usually extensive contents of these records are transformed. In the result of evolution (omission of obligatory elements, simplification of structure), the manuscripts become short and stereotypical records. Simultaneously, writers introduce numerous original elements to the records in order to prevent the decay and degradation of traditional formulas.
