WORD IN RUSSIAN POETRY OF THE SILVER AGE

Summary/Abstract: The new contents and esthetic functions of poetic word acquired in the Silver Age are considered in this article. The place of artistic word in the world literature picture of the Russian poetry at the turn of 19th and 20th centuries, as well as its understanding of such trends in modernism as symbolism, acmeism, futurism and “new peasant” poetry are defined. The connection of the Silver Age poets with the previous Golden Age of the Russian poetry is presented. Moreover, the active innovative character of the lyrics is shown. Last but not least, it manifested itself in the change of the attitude to the world, in its new sense and meaning.
