Law and Society in the Face of Crisis

Summary/Abstract: Referring to papers published in this volume, this paper debates the genetic, functional and cognitive-symbolic relations of law to the society. The stress is put on the relations between society and law in the process of an overwhelming political and social change after the collapse of communism in Eastern and East-Central Europe, as well as the global changes and emergence of information society. The argument on the crisis of law is thoroughly debated and the possible sources of the overcoming of such a crisis are discussed. The latter take shape of „moral moments” in the life of contemporary societies, when the crimes violate some most primary values.
