The image of Pre- and Post-War Lisbon in Joao de Melo’s short story ‘Cloud in the Еyes’ (‘A nuvem no olhar’)

Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the image of Lisbon in the short story ‘Cloud in the Еyes’ (‘A nuvem no olhar’) by Joao de Melo. We will follow the change that the city suffers through the eyes of the main character in the text. We will refer to other scholarly studies that consider the role of the space as a category of the narrative and we will prove that the city as described in the work of the Portuguese writer has the ability to change its image according to the experiences of the fictional characters.
