Summary/Abstract: The continual development of new technologies in the field of biomedicine and genetics raises numerous, as of yet unresolved, legal questions. The initial object of the research is how to protect the individual’s right to enjoy the benefits of scientific and technological development, while encouraging progress in science and technology. In recent years, the issue of genome editing in human medicine has emerged. Using the normative and comparative methods, the author points out the different legislative solutions in the process of editing the human genome. Taking into consideration that there are no uniform rules governing genome editing, the author concludes that it is necessary to legally regulate the process of editing the human genome; ensure the transparency of scientific research, as well as the use of the results obtained during research carried out for scientific purposes; and protect the genetic data of persons who participated in the genome editing process.
