“BUT WHITHER IS IT OUR SHIP GOES?...” (AN INVITATION TO A JOURNEY IN PUSHKIN’S, BAUDELAIRE’S AND GUMILEV’S WORKS OF ART)

Summary/Abstract: In her paper Yelena Kulikova analyzes the motif of the imaginary poetic journey in the lyric verse of Gumilev, Pushkin’s Autumn, and Baudelaire’s Le voyage and L’invitation au voyage. The composition of Gumilev’s Sentimental Journey reveals an overlapping of the realms of reality and fiction. In the end reality turns out to be fiction and the journey of the two lovers acquires its materiality solely on a sheet of paper. Nevertheless, the poetic realm has enough power to create reality out of imagination.
