Summary/Abstract: The article presents a fragment of the reconstructed Russian linguistic archive studies of J.P. Sapega, one of the well-known personalities of the Trouble Time Period (the beginning of the 17th century), hetman of Pseudo-Dmitry II.The analysis is based on already published and some new sources that have been found recently in libraries and collections in Poland, Sweden, and Russia. The linguistic aspect of Old Polish papers (diaries of J. Sapega, letters from Sigismund III, etc.) that have historical and cultural value, is viewed as a component of an archival complex. The texts help to enlarge the number of facts that demonstrate the gradual change from Latin as a literary and written discourse to Polish and give evidence about the important role of business and natural speech in forming the Polish literary language.
