Summary/Abstract: Russian national costume is a unique monument of a materialistic and spiritual culture of the nation. The features of national consciousness as well as its social, moral, religious and ethical ideals are concentrated in a national costume. Color and ornament are distinctive features. An overview of woman’s costume, widely spread in the Russian North, is presented in the article.
