COMPANY MERGER and ACQUISITION, QUALITATIVE RESEARCH FOR THE BANKING SECTOR IN AZERBAIJAN

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to deal with the activities of the banks in Azerbaijan and the merger and acquisition of banks in order to make their activities more efficient. From time to time around 50 banks operated in Azerbaijan. However, the banking sector needs to be reformed as there are so many banks for the small country Azerbaijan and at the same time the inefficient and ineffective operation of these banks contribute little to the country's economy. The main purpose of these reforms should first be merging or closing banks with less activity, reducing the number of banks to 15 in the country, establishing an investment bank, and enabling economically productive and export-oriented areas to easily get credit.
