Summary/Abstract: Helping children become readers of literature from a very early age is of great importance for our reading culture. For this reason, due to the characteristics of the developmental period of the children, they should be introduced to products of children's literature rather than texts written for adults . In order to achieve this in the healthiest way, there are certain basic content features that should be found in children's books. These are classified as heroes, language and expression, plan, subject and theme in the literature. In this study, the literature on how children's books should be in terms of subject and theme was reviewed and subsequently, fifty children's books, selected randomly, were evaluated according to these criteria. In this way, resources were provided to educators, parents and authors by revealing the status of the subject and theme features of children's books.
