Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the Romanian budgetary policy having in mind the state interventionism thesis, the comparative politics in the European Union and the main economic determinants of state interference. An empirical analyses, based on a panel of fi ve countries, from 2001 to 2006, is initiated to establish which are the signifi cant factors explaining the state interventionism.
