Summary/Abstract: After a fl amboyant 2007, the mobile phone industry faces the challenges of an escalating price war. In an eff ort to preserve profi t margins and market share, companies are trying more than ever to develop new ways to create and convey desired value to the customers. The authors provide knowledge regarding the way desired customer value infl uences some key factors in the study of consumer behavior. Readers are also provided with an overview of the strategies used by top companies from the mobile phone industry in an attempt to optimize their customer value proposition
