Values and Legal Education

Summary/Abstract: Discussions about legal education often focus on knowledge and skills the students should gain from education. Values are often not in the spotlight and even when they are discussed, it is not clear, what the meaning of the term “values” is. It is a very unclear term and different authors connect it with a different meaning. That makes the discussion about the importance of values in legal education even harder. It is important to understand, what we mean by this term, so we could closer focus on values in legal education. Therefore, the first part of the article is focused on values in legal education in the Czech Republic. Strategic documents of law schools as well their unofficial approach is being analysed. The second part introduces a new categorization of the term values in legal education. It is important to think about values and the categorisation among 5 different categories should help us to think more precisely.
