Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problematic consequences of the application of one possible and very intuitive definition of realism to mental representations postulated by cognitive psychology. A brief explanation of what sort of entitiesmental representations are taken to be in the framework of cognitive psychology is provided. The definition of realism taken into consideration consists in two parts – claim of existence and independence of beliefs, linguistic practices and conceptual schemes.
