Summary/Abstract: John’s Gospel, usually known in Orthodoxy as „The Theological Gospel”, is a genuine resource for the orthodox theology, that’s why this writing may be the closest to the eastern spirituality. The present study aims to investigate the appeal and influence of the use of the Fourth Gospel’s cosmology in the contemporary orthodox dogmatic field, to detect whether it is present and assumed. Although the cosmological basis of the Fourth Gospel is one of the most consistent in the whole Holy Scripture, it is largely neglected by the academic orthodox theology, especially when it comes to the cosmological chapter of the well-known and best-recognized dogmatic manuals by orthodox authors of the 20th century. The present approach is based on reviewing the most important manuals of dogmatic theology of the most important theologians and thinkers in the Eastern Church from the 20th century as: Ioannis Zizioulas, Christos Yannaras, Ioannis Romanidis, Nikos Matsoukas, Vladimir Lossky, Justin Popovitch or Dumitru Stăniloae, and find out if their works have well defined cosmological chapters, if those chapters are based on The Holy Scripture and especially on the Fourth Gospel’s cosmological basis, which has a specific view, based on the different approach and understanding of the term κόσμος.
