Summary/Abstract: This interview presents the professional career of the conductor and composer Matei Pop, as well as his impressions about some of his achievements. The author records the musician's relation to the Byzantine melos or the martyred poet Radu Gyr, not forgetting to mention his other compositional preoccupations such as those inspired by Romanian folklore or children's literature. Besides composition, Matei Pop's work is carried out on several levels: he is a teacher at the Academy of Music and also a conductor, being often invited to conduct philharmonic orchestras in Romania or Moldova, honoring the artistic legacy left by his father and grandfather, both renowned Romanian musicians.
