Summary/Abstract: The family was and remains one of the fundamental human institutions, regardless of all the changes. It is the same in our region, where it is one of the key segments of society. The focus of this paper is on the ways in which the family appears in the contents of online media in Serbia. Information published on Web portals can reach a significantly larger number of people than traditional media, and quantity is often ahead of quality on the most visited Web portals. The only goal is to get as many visits as possible, as many “clicks” as possible, by constantly publishing new or recycled content. The dominance of tabloids on the Serbian media market and their constant need for high numbers devastated the elementary criteria of the journalistic profession, which is also visible in the content analyzed in this paper. In the headlines of the analyzed online media, the word “family” is often used when the stories are negative, when talking about conflicts, tragedies, The COVID 19 pandemic, etc. This is not strange when it is known that tabloid discourse is dominant, in the way it is used in the media in Serbia - and with a clear indication that in the media in Serbia also existing some other portals, that do not subordinate professional and ethical criteria to the number of “clicks”.
