Language Mediation in Foreign Language Classroom

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the concept of mediation in the context of the process of learning and teaching foreign languages. The article will define the concept of mediation language activities, and also will present their areas: mediating a text, mediating concepts and mediating communication. These areas refer to the descriptors characterisation set out in the supplementary CEFR version of 2018 (CEFR. Companion volume with new descriptors). The article will also present the place that mediation occupies in the Polish curriculum for modern foreign languages. Examples of exercises developing mediation skills at a modern foreign language lesson will also be shown.
