Integrational institutions of the Nordic region – organization, functions and initiatives

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present organization, functions and initiatives of the Nordic integration institutions, especially the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers, their organization and activities. Both organizations, also with the help of smaller institutions, are important part of modern regional international relations among Nordic countries. The article shows examples of regional initiatives in various socio-economic dimensions. The conclusion is that Nordic integration institutions are not substitute of the European Union, but supplement of its social, regional and environmental policy on the Nordic region level.
