Summary/Abstract: Frequently occurring problems with finances during adulthood, misunderstanding of the operation of financial institutions and inability to manage personal finances are very often the result of a lack of financial competence. Teaching children to manage money prepares them for financial realities, planning and financial security in the future. In order to determine the importance of socialization during childhood on finance during the period of adulthood, a survey among economics students at the University of Zielona Góra. It has been proved in the article that financial socialization of children takes place through observation of their parents' financial practices as well as through their own experience with spending money during childhood.
