Summary/Abstract: From church singing, to contemporary religious creation. Marginalia on the irst Audition of the Oratory Calls to Salvation. Pilgrims at Saint Paraskeva by Viorel Munteanu This text is an analysis of a musical composition signed by Viorel Munteanu and entitled “Calls to Salvation. Pilgrims at Saint Paraskeva“. One of the composers for whom the combination of faith and artistic creed, of theology and musical art has manifested naturally, in various musical genres is Viorel Munteanu, an outstanding personality of Romanian music and a beloved professor in Iasi who enjoyed a well-deserved recognition in the Romanian and European artistic environments. The distinguished musician composed the Oratory Calls to Salvation. Pilgrims at Saint Paraskeva for singers, reciter, chorus, Byzantine choir, children’s choir and orchestra inspired by the Byzantine monody, presented in first absolute audition on October 16, 2017, on the stage of National Theater Vasile Alecsandri in Iasi. The work of the distinguished musician Viorel Munteanu will remain a model of artistic creation inspired by the local psaltic tradition and which reflects the Romanian spirituality in full.
