Summary/Abstract: For the new generations, Arghezi is clearly surpassed and shadowed by Lucian Blaga, Nichita Stanescu, Ana Blandiana and others. Instead, the psalm, as a literary species through which prayer dresses in the coat of artistic imagery, revitalizes itself. We find the psalm at Dumitru Ichim, at Th. Damian, at Aura Christi. Tudor Arghezi writes psalms to understand his existential purpose. In his writings, the search for the Sacred is identical to that of the meaning of existence, and the answer to his rhetorical questions comes from nature, in a pantheistic vision. Understanding the importance of the psalms that Tudor Arghezi wrote without any intent of establishing an autonomous cycle cannot be achieved without reference to the verses of the Biblical Psalms in the Book of Songs, in the Book of Job, in the Book of Psalms, versified during interwar by Vasile Militaru, and in the contemporary times by St. Aug. Doinaş, Dorel Vişan, Eugen Dorcescu and Şerban Foarţă.
