Summary/Abstract: In the Romanian theatrical landscape of recent years, we can notice an increased interest in investigating the problematic events that have marked our society. In some cases, the research process has come to resemble and even complement the work of the investigative journalist. Thus, it can be said that contemporary theater inspired by social issues has become a way of complementary mass-media communication, and the playwright (or the entire creative team, as the case may be) has come to assume the role of a journalist. This paper identifies four types of practices in the work of artists who process socio-political topics in their texts and performances. At the same time, investigative journalism is beginning to move from traditional publishing media to the theater scene. Starting from several case studies and presenting some examples of our work techniques, we will show the theater's ability to get where journalism can´t.
