Summary/Abstract: The liturgical text of the Pentecostarion offers a hermeneutic perspective to the „Thomas episode”, to which not much attention was been given by biblical theology. From this point of view, it is a challenge for biblical scholars to discover the relationship between the biblical and the liturgical text. The two sources, biblical and liturgical, complement each other and offer a truthful approach to the figure of Apostle Thomas, in a synchronic and diachronic perspective. Both the biblical text and the liturgical text provide the resources to discover Thomas and to outline his image as an Apostle and his place among the Apostles in the history of salvation.
