Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the place and role of the History ofEconomics from the perspective of Professor Ion N. Angelescu. TheProfessor’s opinions and beliefs regarding the importance, place, role,significance and purpose of the History of Economics are derived fromthe university lectures he held at the Academy of High Commercialand Industrial Studies in Bucharest, during the first years after itsestablishment. He was a pioneer both in the scientific activity of thefield of History of Economics and of economic higher education, aswell as of the Romanian business environment, in the first years afterthe Great Union. Throughout his career, he intertwined his work as aresearcher with that of professor, his work as a dignitary with that ofa citizen, but in all respects he was proud of his national roots.
