Summary/Abstract: Starting with the end of World War I, the Romanian Navy found itself in a period of great transformation. Gone was the structure that proved to be unsuited for offensive and defensive operations on the Danube and now the emphasis was on a more elastic organisation. A great contribution was offered by Vice Admiral Vasile Scodrea, Chief of the Naval Inspectorate for eight years. During his tenure, the command structure evolved and became more like its Western counterparts.
