Summary/Abstract: The article reviews German publicist Josef Sallanz’s recently launched remarkable volume on the presence of Germans in Dobrudja. This monograph appeared as part of the research project entitled „Germans and their neighbors in Dobrudja” of the FederalGovernment Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM). It follows previous works, with a similar subject, published in 1918, 2012 and 2014. The content of the 2020 volume, characterised by attractive graphicdesign, is preceded by a color map of Dobrudja in Romania and Bulgaria and the historical evolution of the borders in Dobrudja, from the Treaty of San Stefano in 1878 to the Treaty of Bucharest in 1918. The table of contents comprises a Foreword and the author’s acknowledgements, the chapters Dobrudja – the region between the Danube and the Black Sea, Key moments from the history of the Dobrudjan Germans, The living environment of the Dobrudjan Germans, an Epilogue and Annexes. All chapters are suggestively illustrated withblack and white, as well as color maps, images and photographs. The publication includes a Bibliography and a list of documentary sources including representative names from the Romanian scientific and fiction literature, in addition to the German one, periodicals, archival sources, an index of authors and an index of localities. The volume represents yet another remarkable contribution, through its informational richness, synthetic and clear writing style, on the German settlers of Dobrudja, who also contributed, by the establishment of localities, educational institutions and cultural initiatives, to the progress of Dobrudja in the 19th and 20th centuries.
