Summary/Abstract: The author of the article focuses on inns – a traditional institution that, centuries long, played an important role in the social and economic life from the Romanian Principalities. Using historical sources and publications from this domain, the researcher presents and briefly characterises the main inns from Iași, as well as those from other localities from historical Moldova. She highlights the inns that once hosted great personalities of the Romanian culture (M. Eminescu, I. Creangă, I.L. Caragiale etc.). Those of them that have survived are nowadays important sightseeing places. By means of the available information, the author tries to reconstruct the peculiarities of the architecture of inns, as well as the traditional gastronomical menus that once ensured their popularity.
