A historical retrospect of the stream of visitors at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History during 130 years of its activity

Summary/Abstract: The visitors of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History (MNEIN) were always its pulse, contributing significantly to writing the history of one of the oldest museum institutions from our country and from south-eastern Europe. This brief historical overview, containing numbers, mirrors the evolution of the stream of visitors, stage after stage, beginning with the foundation of the museum institution. In the present work, our aim was to elucidate the historical aspects that have favoured or diminished the stream of visitors, as well as to offer a scientific base which would help to identify the best practices in attracting the general public to the museum. We present a historical retrospect of the stream of visitors to MNEIN, having the corresponding title.
