Under the pressure of the premiere

Summary/Abstract: This article on productivity in Polish theater analyzes the institutional conditions related to the number of premieres in Polish theaters and their functions in building the image of an institution. I undermine the doctrine claiming that an institution is required to be highly effective to satisfy the expectations of officials. This text also presents alternative ways of thinking about institutions that have recently appeared in theater studies, in which it is not productivity and competition, but values, such as solidarity and care that come to the fore. Finally, the article provides an example of an institution focusing on education, instead of production.
