Summary/Abstract: The author looks at the book Unposted Letters (2019), which collects the correspondence between Franciszka and Stefan Themersons between 1940–1942. She wonders how to read the couple’s love letters (apart from the established epistolographic codes) and, following the example of A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments by Roland Barthes, suggests looking for figures or concepts around which their content is focused. At the same time, these concepts (of waiting, separateness and work) are crucial for determining the existential situation of the Themersons at that time, moreover, they are especially valid now, during a time of isolation, which opens us to a personal reading of these documents.
