Summary/Abstract: In church tradition, the Holy Evangelist Luke was a Christian from the nations, a skillful doctor, who, cultivating preoccupations meant to provide him balance and inner harmony, became a skillful storyteller and painter. The best evidence about his distinguished soul qualities is that the Apostle Paul chose him as his fellow traveler. Doctor Luke perceived Jesus as “a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people” (Lk. 24, 20), who uses his powers to free those burdened by body and soul diseases. The article presents the way medicine was practiced in Roman times and what Jesus Christ brought in this respect as Doctor of all souls and bodies.
