Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article to present the basic positions in the relationship between faith and reason with Thomas Aquinas, one of the most influential philosophers and theologians of the Middle Ages, whose contemplations today - in modern times – are used as the source and inspiration for many philosophical and theological debates on the topic. The analysis will be based on the key theses that Thomas represents about faith and reason in his sums – Summa contra Gentiles and Summa Theologica - bearing in mind the fact that generally speaking, faith on the one hand and reason on the other, according to many authors who appeared through the history of philosophy is represented by two (strictly) separate sources of knowledge, viz. knowledge that should not be mixed. Thomas, however, showed that faith and reason (knowledge) jointly contribute to cognition in general, but also when it comes to God, and this is especially evident in contemporary interpretations of his thought.
