COMPLEX METHODOLOGY OF THE RESEARCH OF TERM UNITS OF THE GERMAN TERMINOLOGY OF DIPLOMACY

Summary/Abstract: A distinguishing characteristic of modern linguistics is a lively interest of linguists in the industry-specific terminological systems, driven by the desire to become aware of the features of the nomination that occurs in various fields of human activity. The terminology reflects the ways of development of human cognition, so the emergence of highly specialized vocabulary is caused by integration processes that take place at the present stage of the science development. The study of specific purpose terminology helps to solve topical issues of lexicology, sociolinguistics and discourse study. Of the main focus is terminology (a functional subsystem of general literary language), which has its own peculiarities both in the terms of expression and in the terms of content. This feature explains the widespread use of not only linguistic but also logical, mathematical and other methods for the terminological studies. In addition, there are purely terminological research methods. The methodology for analyzing the German professional language of diplomacy and its terminology is determined by the subject of the study and the tasks that are required to achieve the goal of the study. The article examines each step separately and describes the methods that have been applied to solve the set tasks that. At each stage of the analysis of the German professional language of diplomacy, general scientific and purely linguistic methods of study have been applied. The structural-grammatical and lexical-semantic peculiarities of the term system determine both the necessity of using certain methods of its research and the specifics of their use. The offered classifications of research methods, as well as a brief analysis of some of the most common methods in terminology allow clarifying both the content of methods and their scope, and the place of each of them in the system of methods. Conclusions. The study of the German professional language of diplomacy at the present stage makes it possible to analyze the interaction between the common literary language and the professional language of diplomacy. Tracing diplomatic relations between countries, we find it important to understand the principles of functioning and the role of linguistic and lexical units, especially terminological ones.
