Summary/Abstract: The article is a theoretical reflection on the issue of the place of moral values in media coverage. The text is a review and an attempt to systematically review knowledge based on Polish theological, moral, media and philosophical literature, without referring to the author's empirical research. The article presents among others the following issues related to the question contained in the title "Do media have to be ethical?": journalistic objectivity, truth and values in the media, propaganda and manipulative interactions.
