Summary/Abstract: Three layers of common vocabulary in the cognate languages are envisaged in the paper: the upper (or revealing) layer, and lower layers (unrevealing and lost). The cognation of the words of the unrevealing layer may be found at the root level — through the reconstruction of old radix morphemes and the observation of derivative fields of these morphemes.
