On the Discourse of Online Sports News Headlines

Summary/Abstract: Sports discourse is one of the most common types of discourses today. It is regarded to be one of the types of media discourses which is supposed to display mainly features of description and commentary, with a unique, specialized vocabulary. This study focuses on sports news headlines published online. One of the objectives of the study is to establish some of the markers with respect to lexical choices, events, and formulation of content. Another objective is to see what ideologies these headlines may reveal.
