Summary/Abstract: We are publishing here two important themes discussed in the 1938-1939 manuscripts of the Romanian philosopher Mihai Uță (1902-1964). They were presented only in the book edited by Dr.Adrian Michiduță, part of his long-term project tore-edit some forgotten or undisclosed pages from Romanian philosophy: Mihai Uță, Filosofia și spiritul științei, Ediție critică, cuvânt înainte, note și comentarii de Adrian Michiduță, Craiova, Editura Aius, seria Biblioteca de filosofie românească, 2019 [Philosophy and the spirit of science, Critical edition, foreword, notes and comments by Adrian Michiduță, Craiova, Aius Publishing House, Romanian Library of Philosophy series, 2019]. The two themes are the Chapters XI and XII of that book. The 16 texts included there were only drafts for a plan that we do not actually know: of a book, or of articles or, possibly, courses. They certify, in any case, the rationalist and realistic perspective that was the peculiarity of a small number of interwar Romanian thinkers; neither this perspective nor Mihai Uță's interest in science made him too popular among the Romanian philosophers. The ideas in the book but also in the two chapters are numerous, and for us they are interesting from two points of view: the firstone is historical, of course, while the other, a theoretical one, concerns both the issues (the aspects and their contradictions) as well as their solving. In the general pattern taken over by Mihai Uță, which explains science by revealing the quantitative aspects–unlike the philosophy that deals with the qualitative ones–some ideas in the two texts might seem simplistic; but if we understand the concomitance of the clear development of scientific reasoning and its much broader meanings, suggested in the text, they are rather fertile.
