The metamorphoses of literary criticism: the case of the Grands Rhétoriqueurs

Summary/Abstract: The analysis of the attitude of the critics towards the poetry of the Grands Rhétoriqueurs allows us to observe the changes that have occurred within literary history. Long despised and practically excluded from the framework of important poets, the Rhétoriqueurs finally won over the benevolence of researchers and in the second half of the 20th century, they found their place in the history of French literature. It was a noticeable change that spurred new research into previously forgotten fields of literature.
