Summary/Abstract: The sundial is the oldest device for measuring time. It has been used in Transylvania since the Middle Ages to this day. After showing how we can determine if a sundial is working correctly or not, the article makes an overview of the Transylvanian sundials: how many are they, of what kinds they are, where we can find them and why there, as well as how exactly do they work.
