Periodization of personal funds and collections in Kosovo’s Archives

Summary/Abstract: The archives of Kosovo preserve a considerable number of funds and personal collections. Like public archival material, also funds and personal archival collections belong to the category of what we consider as the memory of a state, respectively of a people or society. A source or way of enriching the general state fund is undoubtedly the collection of privately owned documents. The development of historical events, military policy, creative science, art during a certain stage of time brings out distinguished personalities, at the state level national. These personalities leave behind an important legacy in the form of documentary materials, which over time take on the importance of a personal archival fund that is important to archivists and scholars of various fields. To have an easier access to researchers for scientific purposes in these funds and collections, as well as other stakeholders, the importance of their periodization becomes increasingly necessary and indispensable. Therefore, our paper aims to explain and analyze precisely the periodization of archival funds and collections in the archives of Kosovo.
