QUALITATIVE RESEARCH ON TOTAL QUALITY PRACTICES IN SERVICES PROVIDED TO DISABLED INDIVIDUALS IN UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES

Summary/Abstract: The concept of “Barrier-Free University”, which is an important approach in today's higher education system; It has made serious progress both with the studies carried out by the Higher Education Council and the efforts of the universities within their own bodies. The main purpose of these efforts is to complete the transformation of persons with disabilities into actors who are more involved in social life and benefit more by increasing both education and life quality. The aim of the research is to bring an approach that focuses on Total Quality practices in services provided to individuals with disabilities in university libraries. In accordance with the principles of Total Quality, the expectations of people with disabilities for library services were examined and the applications that can be made to make more use of libraries were investigated. In this context, in particular, the duties of the university administrations were tried to be put forward. The study used the technique of interviewing as a data collection method, semistructured questions responses to disabled staff and students in the Sivas Cumhuriyet University as a result of the findings individuals with disabilities within the framework of Total Quality Management expectations and satisfaction with the services they receive has been trying to put forward.
